The Macon County Hillbilly Days are coming up soon, and we hope we’ll see you at Key Park for the 45th annual festival sponsored by the Lafayette Lions and the Lafayette Lionesses Clubs!
When and Where
The 45th Annual Macon County Hillbilly Days will be held at Key Park in Lafayette, Tennessee. The event will run from Thursday, June 17 to Saturday, June 19, with opening ceremonies beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The park is located at 208 Church Street, Lafayette, Tennessee 37083. In addition to the special events, look out for games, rides for the kids, and arts and crafts booths. Lawn chairs are welcome.
Thursday and Friday Fun
After the opening ceremonies, kids can costume up for the “Itty Bitty Hillbillies” beauty pageant at 6:30 p.m. Following that event, guests can participate in the 7 p.m. cake walk. On Friday, visitors can chow down at the 4 p.m. fish fry, as the festival will provide delicious catfish complete with slaw, fries, beans, hush puppies, and a beverage. Kids eat for $6, and adults dine for $10. After dinner, you can enjoy the sounds of a gospel concert at 6 p.m.
Saturday promises a full day of entertainment, starting with music competitions all morning long. Musicians can demonstrate their skills with flat top guitar, banjo, harmonica, and mandolin, while there will also be a segment for beginning fiddle players. Expect vocal competitions and dance displays, and don’t miss the cast iron recipe competition at the back pavilion at 1 p.m. In the evening, stick around for the Big Show, as musicians will rosin up their bows for the 7 p.m. bluegrass band competition.
