Get Spooked At Dead Land Woods

Deadland Woods

If you like your Halloween fun to be on the truly horrific side, then you definitely need to check out Dead Land Woods this Halloween. This scream park located in Lebanon, TN offers three frightening attractions. It’s been open since September and will continue to offer chills and thrills through November 3, 2018. Operating hours/days are from 7:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. on Fridays and Saturdays.  There are actually three separate attractions within Dead Land Woods for “spooktators” to enjoy:

Attraction #1: The Curse

Every inch of land has a story and the story of the “dead land” as the local Indian tribes called it is rife with dark and bloody legend. The natives saw many of their offspring wonder off into the woods and never return, or return sometime later as something else. Something evil. The Indians pointed to the story of an old-she wolf that died on the bank of a river in the area as the source of evil. While it may have died there, legend has it that it returned to the tribe and killed many animals and a young girl before being beheaded and burned.

As if that wasn’t enough to curse the dead lands, there is also the story of Herschel Walker, a Confederate General, who had a voodoo priestess perform a black magic ceremony to prevent Union soldiers from occupying his land. The ceremony, however, came at a cost. It meant the soul of Herschel Walker and all his descendants would be bound for eternity to roam the land and prevented from moving on to the afterlife.

Attraction #2: The Portal

The story of the Portal is shrouded in mystery. What we do know, however, is that the portal leads to a library where “your darkest nightmares are written in blood,” according to the Dead Land Woods website. Are you brave enough to face your worst fears? If so, then this might be the attraction for you.

Attraction #3: The Crypt

The crypt holds the legend of Katherine Cauldwell who lived in the early 1900’s. Katherine was a beautiful woman who began noticing signs of aging as she gazed at herself in the mirror. A very vane woman, she began using all manner of creams and elixirs to try to preserve her beauty and youth, but to no avail. Then, she stumbled upon a dark and costly solution.

She found a spell that promised her everlasting life. The cost, however, was the life of her devoted, kind, and loving husband, Xavier. Without hesitation or conscience, Katherine carried out the spell and sacrificed the life of her husband. The only problem? The spell did not work. She continued to age and her beauty faded. She eventually died and her spirit haunts the crypt where she was allegedly put to rest. Her toxic hate and anger over her failed spell infected the whole crypt and brought out other restless and angry spirits including someone who committed suicide, a grieving mother, and a military ghost.
