These Tips Will Help Your Vehicle Live Longer

Driver is replacing their windshield wipers outside

As a dealership that offers many different maintenance options in our service center, we know a thing or two about cars and how to keep them running. And while bringing your vehicle to the pros is always a good idea if there is an issue, you can also learn a few tricks that will help your wheels keep on turning for years to come.

Windshield Wipers

In order to drive, you need a clear view of the road. But you can’t do that if it’s raining and your windshield wipers don’t work! Changing your wipers is simple and cheap, and very easy to do on your own. Also, while you’re working on replacing those, go ahead and give your windshield (inside and out) a good wipe. You’ll be preventing future smudges and wiping away current ones.

Fixing Filters

There are two air filters that regularly need tending to: the cabin air filter and the engine air filter. Replacing the cabin air filter is simple, and you can find a replacement at any auto parts store. The engine air filter is a smidge more confusing but still doable. First, look through your owner’s manual and see how often you should be changing it. Once you have that number, hold onto it. Your owner’s manual should also walk you through how to change it, but if it doesn’t, there are ample resources online to follow along to.

Overall Inspection

Every now and then, even unprovoked, it’s smart to give your vehicle an inspection. This way, you’ll be able to catch if something seems off. (Pro-tip, the more frequently you do them, the greater chance you have of catching an issue). Here’s a list of things you can look for on a monthly basis that will alert you of any problems with your vehicle.

  • Check your tire pressure
  • Check your tire tread
  • Test all of your lights
  • Listen for any weird noises
