Ring In The New Year With Some DIY Party Decorations

DIY Decorating

The ball is about to drop on 2023 so it’s time to make sure your celebration plans are all set. If you’re looking for a few ideas on how to dress up your home for the big celebration, here’s how you can ring in the new year with some DIY party decorations – by making your own fringe out of colorful paper. Best of all, it can be done in about half an hour.

Choose Your Colors

Before you begin, you may want to go ahead and choose the color scheme you want to use for your decorations. Experiment on your own and consider which ones you like best. Some suggested paper colors that can go well together are:

  • Pink, Yellow, White, and Black
  • Blue, Green, White, and Black
  • Teal, Orange, White, and Black

Materials

Once you have chosen your paper colors and purchased the amount you will need, gather all the materials necessary to begin the project.

  • Paper
  • Paper Cutter
  • Scissors
  • Four-Inch Circle Craft Punch
  • Raffia Ribbon
  • Hot Glue And Glue Gun

Circle Fringe

Take out your four-inch circle craft punch. With it, you can cut circles in your paper – you may be able to get as many as five out of one piece of paper. Next, with the scissors, cut the fringe. Cut about 3-4 circles at a time.

Flag Fringed Banner

For the banners, take one piece of paper and cut it into eight equal rectangles measuring 4.25 inches by 2.75 inches. Next, cut a triangle out at the bottom followed by your fringes.  As with the circles, you can probably fringe up to four at a time.

Glue To Paper Raffia Ribbon

For this step, you could use white glue, however you may find that hot glue gives you more maneuverability when you’re aligning your pieces in place. Consider making one banner with alternating colors, one with alternating black and white, and one with all four. Whatever you think looks best for your New Years Eve celebration.

Fringe Straws

You may want to consider including fringe on other items – such as drinking straws – in addition to your banners to add even more flare to your party.
