When Halloween comes to pass, what to do with all those decorations? We picked up three helpful tips from SocialMoms.com for transitioning your décor from Halloween into a fall theme and we’d like to share them with you.

If It Screams Halloween … It’s Got to Go!

Go through your house or apartment and take inventory of all the décor that screams “Halloween” and get rid of it. Skeletons, spiderwebs, witches, and bats have had their time. They are no longer needed, so put them in storage and retire them until next year. Look for lighting, fall foliage, and scarecrows that can be repurposed into fall-themed mantle or patio decorations.

Pumpkins For the Win!

Pumpkins have staying power all season long. Keep this in mind while making decorating plans and simply repurpose smaller pumpkins and gourds into a table centerpiece using fall-colored leaves. To create the leaves, spray paint each individually with gold, orange, yellow, and maroon paint. Arrange around the house on a mantel, side table, or as a beautiful Thanksgiving table decoration.

Larger pumpkins are great for outdoor decorations. Be sure to clean the pumpkins and spray with a clear sealant, this will ensure they last through the fall without rotting. Line your walkway or design a fall-themed porch decoration.

Did you know you can also reuse carved pumpkins? That’s right, give your jack-o-lantern new life by turning it around and displaying on the opposite side. Use fall foliage and hay bales to cover the carvings. No one will ever know.

 Fall Container Explainer

Containers have many common uses for Halloween. Whether it’s a glass jar used for candy, a spooky candle holder, or a basket of fake spiders, all of these can be repurposed with fall flair. Replace the candy with fall leaves, or add a nice pumpkin spice candle. The possibilities are endless and limited only by your imagination.
